10 sites that take online govt to a new level

My colleague Norm drew my attention to an interesting article with the above title that I have just got round to reading. I think it does show the progress that the public sector has made in grasping the opportunities of the Web including a certain amount of web 2.0. The list gives a good indication of the range of things being done and while I am sure there are plenty of static, uninspiring websites out there, it does show that ideas are being put into practice. I think what this sort of list also shows is that it is going to be less and less a question of how good your website is and more and more a question of how are using the web to engage with people (partners, users, citizens) in new ways. In that respect I liked the fact that the transport511 example includes the ability for people to incorporate some of the sites functionality on their own sites.
